Light Weight Field
Machine
The Light Weight Field Machine is approximately 33% lighter and also easier to
carry. The appearance of the Light Weight Field Machine is identical to the
standard Field Machine. Weight reduction is achieved in a number of ways.
A: Reduction of the internal battery size from 7 AHr to 3.2 AHr.
B: Use of a lower powered transformer.
C: Reduction in the length of all cables, where possible by 40% and the use of
lighter wire.
D: Light weight carrying bag for ancillary items.
E: Light weight manual.
To the user, apart from the reduced weight, these differences may not even be
noticeable. Although the Battery has been reduced to 3.2AHr, this still gives
approximately 7 hours of battery life depending on use. Many customers power
their computers from the 12 V output on the front panel of the Field Machine.
This is still possible, but only when an external 12V source is provided. A
small LED shows when this output is activated. By having this restriction,
combined with a smaller battery, we can use a lighter power supply within the
Field Machine.
A separate light weight bag is used to carry ancillary items, such as cables,
whilst the Light Weight Field Machine is carried using its own handle. The bag
can be selected as a Rucksack or a hand held bag
The Light Weight Field Machine represents a good weight compromise, without
loosing the instruments electrochemical test performance. Still further weight
reductions can be made on request, such as taking both the internal power supply
and battery outside of the instrument and providing them in separate external
cases for use when required.
Heavy Weight Field Machine
The Heavy Weight Field Machine is the same as the standard Field Machine, except
that the mains power supply is housed in an external enclosure. The instrument
is fitted with 14 AHr batteries for extended battery life. In an extreme case, a
deeper case can be provided with larger internal batteries as required.
