Common Elements

Certain areas on various set-up pages are common to most techniques they are:

Each set-up page has a diagram of any cell connections required for the test to function correctly optional connections are shown in light grey.

All potentials measured are displayed with respect to the reference electrode. 

This section allows the precise control of internal count resistors at the beginning and during a test. The Auto ranging during test if checked allows the instrument to change to the best count resistor whilst the test is running. Also at the start of the test the internal count resistor can be set to a certain resistor or to be automatically selected before the test is started. These two options can be combined in any order for example it is possible to automatically find the best count resistor at the start of the test but to fix on this resistor during the test (Auto ranging during test off and At Start to Auto).

A Cell Settle Time lets the cell settle before the test begins this option must not be confused with a Pause technique (Pause technique - waits a pre-set time between tests cell is isolated). The Cell Settle Time option waits with the instrument coupled to the cell at the test start potential.

The option for offsetting to the rest potential is available only when a technique applies a potential during testing. For normal use this option should be on (checked) even when testing dummy resistor test cells. Lets deal with an example using a Cyclic test and the rest potential. Assuming the Cyclic technique was set to sweep from -100mV to +100mV and there was a rest potential of -53mV the test would be done from -153mv to +47mV.
